Courses Taught
PSYC 358
Comparative Cognition
Cognitive skills and processes differ across species, in ways that are functionally significant. This course will explore similarities and differences in memory, decision-making, risk assessment, biological constraints on learning, and various aspects of intelligence across the animal kingdom. |
BIOL 371Animal Behaviour
The course in Animal Behaviour provides students with a biological, ecological and psychological approach to the general question of “how and why animals behave as they do”. The primary focus is on the biological and evolutionary processes that shape behaviour in general. An additional important objective is to clearly differentiate between proximate and ultimate explanations of behaviour. |
PSYC 405Animal Communication
This seminar explores, through detailed literature review, the function and mechanisms of animal communication in the acoustic, visual and olfactory realms. |
